本次讲座我想向大家介绍 Seymour 内部的这些安全控制。
And this lecture I want to introduce to you these security controls inside of Seymour.

So when we come up here to setup we can go into configure password and you can see that we have eight different accounts eight different passwords which can be set up and by default we've got different groups.

We've got supervisors engineers managers in all kinds of different operators.

But really let's just say that we're only going to use this one.

And let's just call it approved so these are people that are approved to make some changes and we can put in a number or we could use a tag from our PSC.

So what are we doing here.

Well all we're really doing is creating a password for each of these different accounts.

And really I'm only going to work with one of these accounts and that's going to be group one which recalling approved and has a password of 1 2 3.

So how do I apply that security to a control.

Well here's something that's kind of painful about Seymour controls when I say well you know what I want to put a password on the slider when I double click it.

You see I have a general tab and an option tab but if I were able to use security for this control there would also be a tab for password.

And unfortunately Seymour has decided that they're going to allow you to use security on certain controls but not on other controls.

Don't ask me why that is.

But you know not everything's great about Seymour.

So if I just bring in a generic numeric entry now you can see I've actually got the password tab.

So now I can put in the password option and I can require somebody to have approved credentials.

Then let me go back out here and the display and data tag here is going to be mode and I'm going to hit okay and then let's go ahead and just simulate this.

Sure enough you can see that my numeric entry is changing as well you can see that number changing.

But if I want to try to change it over here the first thing it says is inter security code.

Well if I put something like 65 it doesn't do anything.

Nothing happens.

So I have to hit one two three.

It accepts that and then it brings me to the standard numeric entry form.

And now I can change this thing up to ninety nine and hit enter.

So this control now has security applied to it.

And as far as security goes isn't that just a painful implementation.

And it's really unfortunate that such similar tools have such disk similar options.

Could you imagine if you build your whole application and design it using this kind of sliders only to have one that requires a security code and then you have to break your entire theme and use one numeric entry instead of a slider just because you need to put security on it.

You know there's one more reason not to stray off into all of these much cooler looking I'll be at less developed and less functional tools because especially in Seymour.

You just don't have all the options available for all of the tools so kind of unfortunate.

But anyway that's the basics of how to put some security on things you can create all of those different passwords.

You've got eight different accounts to work with and certain types of controls can be locked out whereas other types of controls tend not.
